CHALK CREATIONS - This is a second idea for the Versamark†stamp pad. The ink is very 'sticky' so in this technique you are using it almost as a glue!!

You will need:

Versamark Stamp Pad

Birthday Present Background Rubber Stamp (F-R57)

White Cardstock

Decorating Chalks (CH24)

Cotton Balls

1. Ink up the background stamp using the Versamark pad. Be generous with the ink. Stamp your image onto your cardstock, you should just about be able to see your stamped image.

2.† Get some chalk on a cotton ball and dab onto your stamped image.

3. Add more colours until your whole image is coloured as desired. I used 3 colours for this project.

Hints & Tips

  • Make sure you dab the chalk DO NOT rub as this will colour the background cardstock
  • If you dab very gently lots of times you are more likely to colour the image rather than the cardstock
  • Once you have finished colouring your image you can very gently with virtually no downward pressure rub a cotton ball over the image to blend the colours a little.
  • I don't seal my chalked images but if you want to you can using cheap hairspray or a purpose built spray sealant.
  • Clean your stamp pad thoroughly with a baby wipe. The Versamark pad is very sticky so you will need to be thorough.
  • This technique will work with any rubber stamp it doesn't have to be a background although background stamps do work really well.

Colour Advice

  • Light cardstock colours work really well for this technique. You can use darker colours,†I have used white chalk on black cardstock, but you will need to make sure you add enough chalk for the image to stand out.
  • I've done the colours in stripes but you can always be more randon with how you apply the colours which looks great too.
